The literal translation of “Sawubona” is “I see you”.  Its meaning is deeper than merely acknowledging someone’s physical presence, but implies that one’s inherent value and worth are seen.  What a great name for a social gathering venue, right? We think so!

Hello, my name is Dr. Jennifer Wayer. I am a native and resident of Crestview and a dentist by trade.  In 2021 I took off my “dentist hat” and picked up several others…homeschool mom, “taxi driver” to all the extracurricular activities, Co-Founder and CEO of Orphan to Heir, Missionary to eSwatini, Africa, and small business owner of Sawubona Place.  So what exactly is Sawubona Place?  I’m glad you asked!

Sawubona Place is a medium size rental event space nestled conveniently in North Crestview.  It is intimately and eloquently designed to welcome up to 64 guests.  I believe that now, more than ever, having social interaction and a community of friends is critically important to our well-being!  Crestview is growing by leaps and bounds, but there are very limited cost-effective options available for gatherings for smaller groups. Sawubona Place is our offering to our hometown community to fill this void.  Our hope is that people will come to our venue and reconnect with old friends, make new friends and many cherished memories.  We have taken great effort to make this event space welcoming and inviting for all your event planning needs.

There is another purpose of Sawubona Place that makes it very special.  Sawubona Place was never intended to be for personal profit.  Yep. Your read that correctly.  The money generated from Sawubona Place helps us fund the expenses of Mpolonjeni Hope Center in eSwatini, Africa.  This Hope Center is a vocational training center for youth and young adults, most of whom have been orphaned.  This vulnerable population will not only be able to learn valuable skills to support themselves economically, but will also find restoration of their dignity, identity, and belief in their God-ascribed value and worth.  To these young people, we have promised “SAWUBONA!”
